Feyenoord is at the top of the Eredivise with Santiago Gimenez leading the way. Gimenez is red hot. Scoring 10 goals in his last 13 competitions, including 5 in the last 5. The Mexican center forward is proving his doubters wrong. After scoring 5 goals in 5 games in Liga MX to start his 22-23 campaign, Gimenez moved to Europe in order to push his way through to a Mexico National Team call up. Only playing substitute minutes at first, he was still able to score goals, four of which came in Europa league matches. Unfortunately, he did not get the call to play for El Tri in Qatar. Since then he’s been a man possessed. Finally integrated into the starting lineup, the six foot true center forward has been able to pounce on many balls in the box with his head or a wicked left foot. He uses his large frame to box out defenders and get on the end of through balls. He’s done so in the biggest games including against Ajax, Feyenoord’s biggest rival. The Mexican National Team can’t turn him away with these goal scoring figures. He could be Mexico’s center forward for the 2026 World Cup, which by the way, will partly be played in Mexico.
