Praise for Kudus

Ajax were very reluctant to sell Antony this summer but they certainly had a replacement lying in wait. With Antony gone, Kudus started the season red hot by scoring 7 goals in 7 games. More recently he has 4 points in his last 4 games. Versatility is the key for Kudus. He’s not just an out and out winger. He can play striker, wing, or central midfield. A combination of strength and low center of gravity gives him tremendous hold up play. He uses this to turn a drive into the final third and take on a shot or supply a forward pass. His left leg could at times be compared to a cannon (see video). Kudus is a very valuable player for club and country. The 22 year-old starred for Ghana v South Korea with two goals in a group play match including the winner in the 68th minute. It will be interesting to see if Ajax are reluctant to sell off more talent this summer but we do know there will be plenty of suitors for his services. Check out Kudus’ rookie cards in 20-21 Obsidian Soccer!
