It’s been nearly two years since Erling Haaland called his 17 year old teammate “The American Dream” That 17 year old was Giovanni Reyna.

Since then it’s been a bit of  rollercoaster for Reyna. He was showing great promise in an attacking side that also featured Sancho, Reus, and Brandt. Following in the footsteps of fellow American Christian Pulisic, he looked bound for greatness. However, injuries have taken a toll on his playing time and consistency.

Healthy once again, see: 1 v 5 run @Mexico, we saw a glimpse of the dream that was promised. I’m not sure he’s the next Maradona as some (Berhalter) would say, but could Reyna be that attacking presence that the USMNT is sorely missing when the Workd Cup rolls around? I for one, am excited to see where Reyna will be at the World Cup and next time this year.

You can find Reyna’s rookie card in 2019/20 Bundesliga Chrome Hobby along with his awesome 🇺🇸 International Flair insert!
